Program Kickoffs

We have several program Kick-Off events happening this August so that everyone has the opportunity to join us! It is imperative at least one person from every Pack and Troop joins us, but all are welcome. We will be going over new and valuable information about how Scouting should move forward this next school year. We will be handing out recruitment bags with all kinds of fun goodies and important supplies. Attendees will be asked to practice social distancing, wear face coverings, and follow other safety guidelines.

  • Stevens Point - August 18, 6:30-7:30 pm at Iverson Park
  • Wisconsin Rapids - August 18, 6:30 pm at First English Lutheran Church

Update your BeAScout Pin

Updating your BeAScout.org pin is simple, and it’s a good way to make sure your information is current — that it doesn’t list last year’s Cubmaster or meeting time, for example. Access to update your pin is available to all unit leaders, including committee members. Click here to watch a "how to" video on updating your pin.

Successful Virtual & In-Person Social Distancing Meetings

If members of your unit have had success with virtual den, pack, patrol or troop meetings we would be interested in hearing about your experience.  Similarly, for in-person Scout meetings with social distancing.  We want to take the best methods and lessons learned to help all Scout units be successful this fall under the reasonable assumption that this is how Scouting will operate for several months.

Please contact Janice Watson at Janice.Watson@Samoset.org with a brief blurb about your experience.  Our ultimate intent is to host a Zoom meeting for unit leaders to help share what works in August before units start their program year.  Thank you!

Chapter 11 Communication to Chartered Partners

Because of the National BSA’s legal requirement to notify all possible claimants to submit their claim by November 16, 2020, part of their communication is to chartered partners.  Recently a US mailing went to all chartered partners from the National BSA asking for their assistance to help notify people.

Some of the ways they might assist BSA with notifying members include one or more of the following:

  • Posting a copy of the one-page notice on a bulletin board or website used by the members of their organization.
  • If the organization is aware of any members who have disclosed that they have been abused, informing them of the claims deadline.
  • Notifying your current members through an email with the notice about the claims deadline

There is no legal obligation for any chartered partner to act on this letter.  If chartered representatives or institutional heads have questions they can contact Scout Executive John Overland at John.Overland@Samoset.org or 715-355-1450

Summer Day Camps

Get ready for adventure and fun this summer. Signup for one or more of our summer day camp opportunities.

Our STEM day camps offer activities for boys and girls going into grades 2-6. They’ll work in teams, make new friends and perform experiments that make science, technology, engineering, and math come alive.

Our others day camp programs will feature traditional camp activities like archery, BB-guns, and outdoor cooking. These are open to the entire family, including non-Scouts.
