Eagle Scout Application

Albert and Chris Hanna established a scholarship fund to help support the education of Eagle Scouts attending college.  This is a great way to support our Scouts who are preparing for their future through furthering their education!

The Al and Chris Hanna Eagle Scout Scholarship Award is open to all Eagle Scouts currently registered with Samoset Council and who have demonstrated leadership in Scouting and outside of Scouting.  Al’s and Chris’s generosity allowed us to award 10 scholarships last year. Samoset Council is now accepting 2018 applications with a due date of December 15th, 2017

Advancement News

Advancement is the method by which we promote and encourage the ongoing involvement and commitment that keeps members coming back for more. It works best when it is built into a unit’s program so that simply participating leads to meaningful achievement and recognition—and to a continually improving readiness for more complex experiences.

Samoset Council uses advancement results in local media stories and council reports.  This information is also shared with foundations, donors and our United Way partners.  Therefore, it is important that we have the most up to date information.  As we near the end of the year, we encourage units to turn in any outstanding advancement reports.

To help update our records you will recieve a phone call form the support staff to verify current ranks for your Scouts.  If you have any questions about this proecess, please contact the Samoset Council office at 715-355-1450.

Safety Moment

The Boy Scouts of America and the National Rifle Association (NRA) have worked together for more than 100 years to develop a strong shooting sports program.

Too often, individual units want to go shooting with whatever guns they have at whatever location they think is safe. However, the BSA Shooting Sports program is both age-appropriate and structured with specific types of firearms and the appropriate places to shoot. Leaders and chartered organizations need to know and follow the program.

This Safety Moment is not an all-inclusive document of every shooting rule available to you, but should serve as a reference document for you to make sure the shooting activities your Scouts are participating in are conducted appropriately and in the safest manner possible.

Safety considerations should be on the top of everyone’s list, especially when dealing with firearms. Check out the Shooting Sports Checklist here!
