Samoset District Names Announced

During the past month and a half, two email surveys were conducted with each registered volunteer and family in our Samoset programs to name our five Scout districts.  Here are the results:

  • Ahdawagam – Most of Wood County and the northern part of Adams County (100 series Scout units)
  • Mushkodany – Portage County including Mosinee (200 Series Scout units)
  • Northwoods – Langlade, Taylor, Lincoln, Vilas, and Oneida Counties (500 & 600 series Scout units)
  • Ojibwa – Marshfield, Stratford, Abbotsford and communities in western Marathon County (300 series Scout units)
  • Rib Mountain – Greater Wausau Area (400 series Scout units)

Building a District Volunteer Structure

We are starting off the district structure with 6 volunteer positions. Each position is being created to provide functional service to the Scout units in the district and represent the district on the council committee. If you are interested in volunteering in one of these roles or would like to nominate someone to be considered for a position, please contact your district executive.

  • Rib Mountain – Bob Jacoby
  • Northwoods – Kristin Tobin

Position descriptions are available for each position (listed below).  If you have an interest in volunteering in any of the above positions, please reach out to your district executive or assistant council commissioner to express your desire. We look forward to working with volunteers to increase community-based Scouting into further support and empower Scout units.

  • Assistant Council Commissioner – Overall Unit Service
  • Activities Chair – promote & support Cub and Scouts BSA district/council activities
  • Advancement Chair – promote & support Cub and Scouts BSA advancement programs
  • Fund Development Chair – promote & support product sales, Family FOS and Community FOS
  • Membership Chair – promote & support membership recruitment programs
  • Training Chair – promote & support adult and youth leadership training programs
